FORD PARK

Public BBQ

A well-kept neighbourhood park in a bushy setting, with a recently remodelled playground that is mostly under cover — a genuine advantage through summer — and a swing set that gets particular affection. Paths wind through the reserve and it is a favourite for dog walking, with picnic facilities and toilets that are consistently clean and stocked with soap and paper towels. The resident wildlife is half the appeal: brush turkeys wander the grounds, and a pair of owls has roosted in the trees for years, well camouflaged against the bark and easy to miss. Two shortcomings: there is no water bubbler near the playground or picnic tables, and the cricket nets have been left in poor condition.
